Goodwill aisles are full of fashion finds. And not just off-the-rack ones.

They’re also the best place to find unexpected raw materials. To prove it—and boost Goodwill’s fashion cred with shoppers—we partnered with PATTERN magazine. Together, we sent six artists and designers on a mission to Goodwill. Their assignment? Find a piece (or several) that inspires you and transform it.

Some painted textiles; some ripped out seams and re-assembled. One created an ornate 18th-century-style gown worthy of Marie Antoinette. Though their methods varied, the end result was the same: an old-made-new creation that showcased all the creative potential waiting to be found at Goodwill.
